Lasting Impression
My Story
Finding Inspiration in Every Adventure
Satara Massage was born from the love of our second home – Africa.
In 2005, my husband and I packed a couple of bags and my beloved massage table and set off for an amazing adventure.
For 15 years, we lived in 5 countries in Africa and the Middle East.
In each country we landed, I set up my massage clinic, leading to amazing experiences.
I met and treated people from all walks of life. Occasionally I was able to take my treatments into the local communities - when it was culturally appropriate.
Communicating and treating people from a diverse range of backgrounds has led to an ease and experience of operating in a variety of environments to promote physical health.
While in Mozambique I had the opportunity to train some local therapists and give back to the community through increasing their skill set and help with ongoing employment. Although challenging at times, it was very rewarding.
These experiences have helped me grow, not only as a person, but as a therapist. Having few to no fellow therapists for professional conversations and often no internet to help with research, I relied on my own abilities and creative thinking to achieve positive results for my clients.
This has greatly shaped and influenced the massage therapy treatments I practice today.
Satara Massage is named after one of my family’s favourite rest camps in Kruger National Park, South Africa. Keeping our memories alive of the picturesque African landscapes and majestic animals which hold a special place in our hearts.
Satara means - of lasting impression. I truly hope that Satara Massage creates a lasting impression for all my future clients.
